Being Nurturing

Being nurturing doesn’t mean we need to be gushy, oversentimental, overprotective, smothering, obnoxious, insincere, or codependent. For a long time, that’s what I thought it meant.

It is possible to be a nurturing person and still maintain limits about how far we’ll go.Challenge: It can be difficult and even confusing to comprehend what it means to be nurturing if we haven’t been nurtured ourselves. “Won’t I lose my power?” we may think. Some of the most powerful women and men I’ve known have the capacity to nurture others and themselves.
