"In 2002, a group of recovering codependents in Mexico City, Mexico asked me to fly down and speak to their group. Living in a poverty-stricken area, they didn't have the money to buy the book but they had passed around photocopies of the book and studied it week after week and year after year. It was the only recovery literature they had. "I flew down in a small Piper with a friend. The air trip took three days. It was one of the most rewarding speaking engagements I've accepted."
